Amanda Melendez Group Presentation Overview

All of the group presentations were splendid. I was the leader of Group 1. Amber was the technical person of the group. This group project was an insightful opportunity. We were able to work together and learn from each other's ideas. Our group went over  how to prepare for a speech. We spoke about the importance of reducing your fears and maintaining focus when giving a speech. Public Speaking is about engaging your creative thinking skills and practicing active listening. Effectively presenting a speech demonstrates knowledge, displays confidence, and shows leadership ability. This can be a key to success and achieving respect when it comes to job opportunities. We also shed a light on the importance of selecting a topic and purpose. This is significant in order to engage the audience and leave them with a message that they will remember. Analyzing your audience is crucial. This can help to narrow down the adaptation required to inform or persuade them in an effective way. I had a great opportunity working with my group and I appreciate all of their combined efforts wholeheartedly.

Group 2 did a great job when presenting to us. I enjoyed the energy that Jezabel, the group leader, started off the presentation with. She started them off on a great note. Her positive energy filled the space and grabbed my attention. This group’s presentation was focused on effective ways to present content. They informed us that it is important to research, organize and support your ideas for an effective speech. By researching well and fully preparing your presentation you will appear more confident. They also spoke about the importance of citing your sources of information correctly. There was a representation of a chart that compared citing APA vs. MLA format. Citing your sources is important to strengthen your credibility. This group stressed the importance of structure in a presentation outline. A presentation outline is a final version of your speech that outlines your key points. Johanner shed a light on the importance of the use of transitions. He explained that an effective introduction to a presentation will benefit the speaker by allowing them to grab the audience’s attention. He shared the examples of creating suspense or laughter as effective tools. Relating the topic to your audience will create an interest among them. Relating the topic to yourself as well creates a form of credibility. When concluding your presentation, we were informed the key is to make it clear that you are concluding, remind the audience of your thesis, and use an artistic ending. Daniel spoke about creating a rhythm in your speech and it’s significance. He shared the importance of eye contact, facial expressions, and gestures to enhance your speech.

Group 3 did an amazing job presenting. They were able to teach us about the importance of specific tips when informing your audience. Vanessa shared with the class the importance of implementing sensory and visual aids. This better explains to the audience your message. This group did a great job working together to express their points. Each person had a nice tone of voice which worked in their benefit. Over all these group presentations were very imperative to my further learning enhancement on this course material.
